Among his accomplishments are 3 U.S. Open Titles, when at age 45 he became the oldest player ever to win the U.S. Open. Irwin was the first captain of the United States President’s Cup Team, in 1994, a team on which he played. He was a member of 5 Ryder Cup Teams and 2 World Cup Teams. from early 1975 through 1978 he played an astounding 86 tournaments without missing a cut, a feat surpassed only by Jack Nicklaus and Byron Nelson.
